The final wonderful story in the CORNERED collection is written by the incredible Natalie Walters.

Natalie grew up in New Mexico and spent as many hours as she could escaping the desert heat inside the Erna Fergusson Library. With an endless supply of books and air-conditioning, she found a place where she belonged among the adventure and whimsy of stories and favorite characters.

As an avid reader, writing was never a part of Natalie’s plan but then neither was falling in love with a soldier. She married her husband and they have three amazing children who have grown into pretty cool adults they look forward to spending time with every chance they get. Motherhood and military life taught her that adventure is best experienced with the ones you love and she decided to pour all that humor, chaos, and excitement into her stories.

When Natalie’s not writing she’s binging CourtTv, drinking tea, and driving her retired husband bonkers. She loves hanging out with her family, playing games, traveling around the world, and forcing her anti-cuddling Goldendoodle to snuggle with her on the couch while she reads.

What inspired you to write specific story?

For Perilous Obsession I watched a series on stalking cases and I was shocked at how hard it is to protect victims. I wanted to write a story that showed how dangerous stalking crimes are and how vulnerable and helpless the victims are when it comes to protecting themselves.

How do you develop your characters, and are any of them inspired by real people?

When I begin planning a story, I usually have some idea of who my main characters are but as I start plotting and writing they begin to develop into “real” versions of what I imagined. A lot of my characters have traits that are inspired by real people in my life—but I won’t name names. LOL

What was the most challenging part of writing this book, and how did you overcome it?

I don’t normally have a hard time putting my characters into troublesome situations but stalking is just a whole other level of creepy—especially when I love my heroine. I had a hard time basically ruining her life when all I wanted to give her was a happily-ever-after.

Do you have a favorite scene or moment in the book? If so, why is it significant to you?

I love tacos. I love banter. I love a cast of characters that are fun. One of my favorite scenes (before I have to ruin it) is when Lahela gets together with her friends for tacos and it’s just fun chaos. Again, before I have to ruin it.

What do you hope readers take away from your book?

One of the themes in Perilous Obsession is the importance of allowing friends, family, community help you. I think so many of us think we’re burdening those around us if we ask for help so we face challenges, hardships, and scary life issues on our own. We are meant to share the arrows of life. Also, I want readers to have fun and enjoy reading the story!

Now for her story that had me biting my teeth:

In Perilous Obsession by Natalie Walters, teacher Lahela Young has finally settled into her new life in Texas when she starts getting disturbing phone calls in the middle of the night—and the distinct feeling that someone is watching her. Former detective Briggs Turner steps in to help the intriguing Hawaiian woman, but this web of obsession is far more tangled than either of them realize. Who is the real threat? And how will Briggs face the future if he loses Lahela?

Here is my review:

What a way to finish off this collection! Natalie did an excellent job in this one. She definitely kept me turning the page. I read this one in about two hours (note: I am a fast reader). Briggs and Lahela were a great couple to end this collection with. Briggs always had her back even when she was afraid to rely on him. The stalker remained hidden until the end of the book. This is another epic book by Natalie Walters. Again I recommend this whole collection!!! It is worth the money!

Perilous Obsession is almost here. Less than a week away! Preorder now!
